GERTSEV GALLERY TO EXHIBIT WORKS BY RENOWN EASTERN EUROPEAN PAINTERS
ATLANTA – “Carnal Visions” with works by Eastern European painters, including Oleg, Kako, Nalbi, Kaspars Zarins, and Paulis Postazs, will be exhibited by Gertsev Gallery, April 1 through May 21, 2005. Opening Reception will take place April 1st, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
An exhibition of figural expression, featuring Oleg, Kako, Nalbi, Kaspars Zarins, and Paulis Postazs, will present an outlook unto the human body, as expression of form and emotion. Each of these Eastern European painters has a different artistic technique and a differing manner of presentation of the subject. With each of these subjects, the viewer is able to hold a dialogue; a dialogue in which the role of the painted subject is as strong as that of the viewer. Thus, the viewer is able to discover parts of his or her self through this communication with a room of painted strangers.
The calm, mystical and enigmatic representation of figures sets Oleg artistic style apart from Kako’s comical and untamed portraits and representations of animals; while Nalbi’s abstractionist vision adds dimension to the playful teasing of the other painters. Ultimately, these carnal voices mold and define the space in which the viewer finds himself visitor and participant.
